A script-centric approach dominates all aspects of the development of the ONX system. Currently it is built on SQL Server 2008 using ER/Studio and SAX Basic macros. The system will support sophisticated chaining of script execution, with debugging and multi-level macro substitution. Logging and performance tracking and path pruning will be present. Any application API or macro interface will be attempted provided some code is given. Documented or undocumented doesn"t matter since tight version-linking to feature use will be present. Say for example a SQL Server 2000 system is being used. Creation of system one-name functions will be supported, but we should be able to identify it as a block to any upgrade path, but any workarounds will be presented as well in order to shift the functionality to new capabilities in new versions.
The focus is on writing once, using-forever, especially around SQL scripts, with a complex SQL builder.
