JP2k-Distiller (JDistiller in short) manages the batch conversion of PDF and TIFF files to JPEG-2000 images, interoperating with popular repository and e-Journal systems (DSpace and OJS namely). JP2k Distiller is designed in order to efficiently handle conversion of very large amounts of files,
In the initial version (1.0) this was done in parallel manner, on a stanalone server, exploiting server multicore technology.
In version 2.0, JDistiller, includes significant enhancements that made possible the incorporating horizontal scale out capabilities and highly distributed architecture.
For conversion and compression backend engine uses the already well-known Adore-Djatoka project which incorporates the Kakadu library but in a near future version will have the ability to work also with the JasPer JPEG-2000 encoder/decoder.
