It is difficult or near impossible for a blind person to use mouse. He would simply not know where to point it. That is why a blind person uses keyboard assisted by a screen reader (with TTS or braille output). The manner in which the screen reader feeds him with output is linear. The screen reader reads the whole page all once or blind person presses tab to let screen reader read individual Hyper links on the page one by one. There is no other way for faster access to the document.
The purpose of this project is to develop a desktop utility or an extension for a popular browser (Mozilla Firefox extension) which enables a blind person use mouse along with keyboard to navigate the individual web pages of the browser. The idea here is to create a logical rectangular area centered around the mouse pointer. Now whatever text or multimedia elements fall into this region will be read by screen reader or speech synthesis software to help and enable a blind person surf Internet quic
