资 源 简 介
This silly (and horribly written) little Windows utility prevents your hard disk from going idle by constantly reading from the raw disk.
Laptop hard disks usually park their heads when idle after (x) seconds. Not usually a problem, but it causes "lag" or "stuttering" in games. So this keeps the disk active by reading a byte from disk every three seconds.
You can see if this may be affecting you by using "Disk Checkup" by PassMark - http://www.passmark.com/products/diskcheckup.htm. Examine your SMART "Load Cycle Count" figure before and after doing a bit of gaming.
Notes:
* No installer. Just run it when you want it or throw it into your Start Up folder to have it run on boot.
* Reads 1 byte from the disk every three seconds. Increases the read offset each time by 4KB (to cater for those with large cluster sizes.
* Polls to see if the laptop"s on battery mode. If so, it stops reading from disk and goes idle.
