Audio-video time compression is the process of editing chunks of video footage with accompanying audio in order to reduce the duration of a video without removing parts or changing pitch of audio when the most important information is being conveyed. The work primarily focuses on academic environments, where hybrid or online learning has become a trend and maintaining student attention for online video lectures is important. Students who are not ‘captive’ in a classroom will not wait while an instructor pauses, writes out an equation, draws a complex figure, writes code, or waits for a piece of software to load during a screen cast.
