The esyst name is short for Engineering Systems Tool, where Engineering Systems is the collective term for Systems used in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering environments. This includes CAD, CAE, PDM, BOM, etc.

Though there"s a plethora of software tools which deal with multitude of problem solving in this area, esyst was created to deal with very specific problems, which could not be solved/automated without some DIY. It"s foremost purpose, is to deal with proprietary legacy engineering drawings stored in the tif format. Many of the drawings and documents where stored as one tiff file per page and though the tiff format itself is not a bad choice, the readily available software readers are more geared towards pictures that documents. Therefor, esyst can search and combine tiffs and convert to pdf, while also adapting the file name to our requirements.
