IOME is a multi-purpose toolkit and protocol supporting collaborative research. This is achieved by sharing of real-time simulations and visualisations while allowing multi-user interactions across the internet via the use of web services.
The capabilities of IOME have been tested and developed with two case studies. Firstly, a suite of medical image processing application which is wrapped as a web service and accessed through a web browser offering medical professionals image analysis tools. In the second, we investigated a method of collaborative visualisation and computational steering of a tsunami simulation based on a shallow water wave model.
