A constrained nonlinear programming optimization algorithm for selecting an optimal set of genetic markers that includes genotyping error from both allelic dropout and false alleles, laboratory costs, and the ability to distinguish individuals with either probability of identity among siblings or probability of exclusion. This algorithm can be used in wildlife pilot studies to assess the feasibility of genetic sampling for multiple genetic inference applications.
