A million different things can go wrong with a computer when it is connected to a network. It can be simple spyware infection or any network based attack. All network problems stem from the packet level, where even the prettiest-looking applications can reveal their horrible implementations and seemingly, trust-worthy protocols can prove malicious. One of the recent examples is GhostNet, a large-scale cyber spying network. To better understand and solve these type of network problems, a Personal Monitoring System is proposed, which monitors the network events occurring in a computer system or network and analyzing them for signs of possible incidents or patterns, which are violations or imminent threats of violation of computer security policies, acceptable use policies, or standard security practices. Also all unique IPs related to events are geographically located on a map. In future Personal Monitoring System can be a proper defense mechanism for the upcoming cyber war.
