Aineko is a Internet Relay Chat "bot" written in perl. It is designed to be completely modular and nearly all of its code can be updated in place while running. While there are quite a few options in this field, the most notable of which being eggdrop, the author of aineko was simply unhappy with the lack of perl support and the inflexability of TCL. Also, while the learning curve of TCL is very low, editing any of the core eggdrop functionality requires extensive knowledge of C. This is why aineko was designed and implemented in perl from the ground up.
While aineko is by no means feature-complete, it is designed to be easy to modify and extend.
