Lancaster University is evaluating the possibility of using a guided vehicle parking system
(GVPS) to ease the parking problems on campus. A call for tender is being issued for the
development of a proof-of-concept that will help LU make their assessment.
The 240 and 240X projects are very similar. However, there are number of components
and considerations that are not relevant for the 240X project, which are clearly indicated in
this document. Essentially, when it comes to the implementation phase, 240X groups need
not implement the GVCS (Guided Vehicle Control System) component, and may ignore
issues regarding traffic signs and the bus service.
