This simple application will split a directory into sub-directories that are small enough to back up onto removable media. I use this to back up my MP3s (where compression is irrelevant) and images (so my wife can take the DVDs to the photo-printing shop).
In those cases you need to be able to keep the original file structure, but also to be able to split as close to the media capacity as possible.
