About
A usually necessary operation in wireless sensor networks is the update of code running on the nodes by reprogramming them through wireless links after deployment. This process is referred to as code dissemination or network programming.
Currently proposed network programming protocols are not secured and allow an attacker to inject malicious code and reprogram the nodes.
Scatter is a secure and efficient network programming protocol that enables nodes to authenticate the program image. To do this efficiently, Scatter uses a scheme that offers source authentication in the group setting like a public-key signature scheme, but with signature and verification times much closer to those of a MAC. In this way, Scatter avoids the use of Elliptic Key Cryptography and manages to surpass all previous attempts for secure code dissemination in terms of energy consumption and time efficiency.
Scatter is independent of the hardware platform. Currently it is test
