The project is a 2D turn-based strategy game in which the player is responsible for the spread of a computer virus through a networked grid of databases, servers, pipelines and other computer features. The goal of the game is to capture the entire grid, wiping out any opponents trying to do the same. Viruses spread to adjacent grid squares every turn, but they also progressively die off. Enemy viruses also attack player-occupied squares, weakening or capturing them.
The player may allay these dangers by upgrading occupied squares. A virus normally spreads to directly adjacent squares but may be upgraded to spread to a radius of two squares on a single turn. Another option slows (or even stops) the rate of virus decay in that square. Viruses usually spread weaker versions of themselves, but another upgrade may increase the strength of virus strains spread from that square. All such upgrades deplete the "potency gauge," which is replenished by occupying new squares o
