AbStraCt: Basic principle of spatial modulation(SM)was introduced. To deal with the
limitation of the existing detection method, an improved algorithm based on normalized maximum
ratio combination(NMRC) was proposed. Smulations were performed both in independent and
correlated channels. Results show that the proposed NMRC algorithm can work normally, and for
the design of SM system with a certain spectral efficiency, the configuration of proper transmit
antennas and QPSK modulation is preferred. Compared with V BLAST system, the configuration
of SM is more flexible with less complexity for a certain spectral efficiency, while the performance
deterioration of SM is more than V BLAST in correlated channels.
