The Cell Net project attempts to simulate the computation of a cellular membrane machine (P-Systems) by means of a number of computers deployed across the Internet, trying to achieve a real massive parallelism. The main target of the project is to simplify the calculation of NP-Complete problems solutions, reducing temporal cost with the use of a large number of computers. Another secondary goal is to build a powerful P-System simulator that can be use effectively in simulating behaviour of living cells. This simulation may be useful for research in other sciences such as biology or medicine. Finally, this may be the first attempt to use the cellular membrane computing paradigm as a way to achieve efficient and powerful real computing. Therefore this project could be also considered interesting from the point of view of this research area.
