Distributed Polling System (DPS) will provide polling mechanism to multiple nodes which are hardwired together to form a local area network. The system will provide a global view (within the local area network) to a node of a specific event. It will help a node in deciding if a specific event or IP is good or bad by getting a prospective of all other nodes on the network. This mechanism will help each node to learn from other nodes’ experiences. This can reduce the number of security breaches or attacks by isolating known bad events or IPs. The system also uses a “degree of belief” scale for each node which will equate to how trust worthy the node is and how reliable the information provided by that node is.
Each node will have the option of conducting a poll on a specific event. To limit the scope of polling we will base our project only on web based events or IP based polling. The polling mechanism will be implemented in way that it will be able to accommodate polling of
