Background: Asset Management is the term given to tracking hardware (computers) and software with an organization. In this increasingly mobile world laptops and devices containing company data are being carried and used outside the workplace. Many get lost or stolen each year.
Project: This project would allow SCCM to track and record the physical location of a PC or device. The project includes considering the entire solution from getting the data from the PC to the SCCM system, storing the data in the database and providing visualization and reporting views for the data. For example a map showing the ‘breadcrumb’ trail of a PC or a report of ‘last known location’ of laptops that have been lost.
