Comcast provides most SD basic cable channels in unencrypted QAM-256. These channels move around (has happened at least once for me). It"s also a pain to perform the initial configuration, and error prone as well.
To make this easier, we grab information from three sources:
scte65scan
Dennis Lou developed a program, scte65scan, which reads the channel mapping tables that Comcast provides to support there "DTA" set top boxes. scte65scan produces a script to add the channels to Mythtv which works well. However, if you have already configured channels, and wont to keep your chanid values the same, it won"t work.
Silicon Dust"s online database
Silicon Dust provides for their HDHomeRun product an excelent listing as well. This listing is provided with a simple web API.
