Background:
The Semantic Web provides a potential solution for ontology-based integration of relevant knowledge from different sources in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) domain, supporting scientific efforts to preserve, interpret, and utilize this cultural asset.
Objective:
Construct a high-level TCM domain ontology with pointers to related biomedical ontologies, and embed the ontology into knowledge services ecosystem of TCM.
Methods:
1. Use Protege for knowledge acquisition, consistency checking, and concurrency control of TCM domain ontology.
2. Use Google Doc for collaborative documentation.
Expected Results:
1. Evaluate the effectivenss of TCM ontology through use cases that connects the data from the two domains for integrative studies.
2. Demonstrate the effectiveness of Semantic Web technologies: Semantic Query, Search, and Navigation, Semantic Wiki, Semantic Graph Mining, Semantic Statistics
