Stoker is an LDAP-aware tool for remote system administration, using a batch imperative model. Although designed for the rapid management of cluster computing systems, Stoker is easily adapted to other distributed administration situations.
Stoker operates by using SSH as a transport mechanism to execute commands on remote systems and distribute files to remote hosts. Target systems can be addressed individually or by groups, effectively permitting one Stoker installation to manage multiple clusters or subgroups of systems within a single cluster. Target systems may be specified either in a local configuration file or by means of an LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) server.
LDAP is supported (but optional) using RFC 2307 compatible objects, allowing Stoker to scale automatically with infrastructure systems that utilize LDAP for authentication, network services, and host management. Where compatible LDAP and
