Have you ever thought to yourself, “ahhh man, if only I could mix that sweet Biggie
Smalls beat with the vocals from James Taylor’s ‘How Sweet it is to be Loved By You’?” FEAR
NOT! X-Fade is coming. This project would be a fun and creative web app to mix audio files on
the fly. The user is presented an inventory of audio files from which they can dynamically create
two playlists. Then, a song from each playlist is loaded in two opposing windows (flash players)
where the audio files are played simultaneously. A bar below the flash files displays a slider
which can be used to cross fade between the two audio files, inversely adjusting the volume of
each of the files to create a cool mix of the two files. As if that wasn’t enough, the flash players
show visualizations of the audio as it’s playing in real time. The community of users is able to
upload audio files (royalty free obviously), and edit there attributes (like its name). They can
