Introduction
Today the housing sector is the largest energy consumer worldwide. Buildings are responsible for EU’s 40% energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emission. Cost-effective solutions (design and integration) for energy efficiency in buildings can be a key solution for the increasing energy demand.
Heating, ventilation and cooling systems (HVAC) are major sources of energy consumption in buildings. In this work we developed a HVAC testbed for system identification in buildings and testing control algorithms for energy efficient building climate control.
The following picture shows how the HVAC testbed is organized. We save the data from wireless sensor network, PLC, people counter and weather forecast in database. You can fetch the data through our website (KTH HVAC Project). Moreover, actuating the HVAC system according to the designed control algorithm is also allowed in our testbed.
