The mced is a very small daemon which monitors /dev/mcelog for machine check events, and then reports them to other applications.
Machine checks can indicate failing hardware, system overheats, bad DIMMs or other problems. Some MCEs are "fatal" and can"t generally be survived. Many, however are not fatal, and mced can help you detect and report them more accurately.
Jun 13, 2010: MCED version 2.0.4 is released. This is a very minor release, mostly so I can see if I can build distro packages.
Apr 13, 2010: MCED version 2.0.2 is released. The only changes in 2.0.2 over 2.0.0 are related to compatibility with MCED v1.x sockets. If you don"t use the -O (--oldsocket) flag, then you don"t need to worry about this release.
