RIT HockeyBot - Computer Engineering Senior Design Project 2011-2012 Winter/Spring
Automated air-hockey opponent.
The goal of this project is to design and build a robotic system capable of defending against and beating a human player at air hockey. The project will utilize computer vision, a host PC, an mBed microcontroller, and pneumatic parts. Pneumatic cylinders will move the computer controlled mallet left/right and forward/back. A magnetic linear encoder will allow for a feedback loop to be built to position the mallet. A puck-launcher will allow the HockeyBot to serve the puck. Software will analyze the puck"s trajectory, predict it"s path, and manage game states and stats.
The project will incorporate hardware and software elements. This site will document the design of both and house the SVN repository.
