Augmented reality-based Universal Remote Controller
Since users are surrounded with many controllable devices, they need to control the devices effectively with a single controller. Existing researches do not provide enough information of which device a user is controlling and which function she is using. They either allow only one function per device or require additional steps to choose a device and its function. They do not support an interaction of virtual object with physical devices. Some of them need additional devices to recognize the surrounding devices. To resolve these issues, we proposed augmented reality-based universal remote controller that allows a user to control surrounding devices only with a smart phone. The proposed universal remote controller recognizes devices using markers with a camera, and shows control interfaces overlaid on captured images.
