Improved Linux Wireless Networking Administration
Until recently hooking a Linux computer up to a Wi-Fi wireless network was all but impossible. This was due to the limited software available. wnetscan is a big step in the right directiom.
wnetscan will find any wireless adaptor installed and use it to find all wireless access points in range. It will then use the information from this scan to set up the wireless adaptor and its network configuration file to connect to one of these networks.
Normally wnetscan will attempt to connect the network it finds with the strongest signal since this is generally the closest and the one most likely to be the one desired.
