The Hanover Transport Computer is an On-Vehicle computer system running an embedded version
of Linux. It is used to perform Automatic Vehicle Location in order to display images and play audio.
It also has GPRS capabilities allowing for external systems to receive information about the vehicle
location.
Passengers waiting to board vehicles at roadside stop shelters can be informed of the expected
arrival time of the next vehicle (c.f. Static bus stop signs around Brighton)
We require an Arrival Time Estimation module to be written to run on the HTC device and to report
via GPRS to a server the expected arrival time of the vehicle. This is intended to integrate with Sign
Server software which will communicate this information to the static roadside signs.
Arrival Time Estimation needs to take advantage of the on board sensors (GPS, Odometer if present,
Gyroscope if present) and the known path of the Vehicle to estimate the duration of time it will take
