To help non-doctors perform cataract surgery in developing countries, we have developed a training simulator using low cost off the shelf components. Working with eye surgeons we decomposed the surgery into a series of discrete steps. Then using infrared technology to track the exact position of our motion sensitive hand held controllers we have simulated these surgery steps using game development techniques.
