Reason is a web-based content management system. It provides an extensible framework for building large websites and for distributing site management among multiple content contributors and maintainers.
Reason provides a wide array of features that simplify and standardize the process of creating websites, reducing the technical expertise needed by content maintainers.
Reason has a proven track record. In over six years of production use at Carleton College, Reason has proved that it is scalable, integrable, and reliable. Several liberal arts schools and community colleges have adopted Reason, and it powers many smaller sites outside the educational realm as well.
Reason is true open-source software. It is licensed under the GPL (GNU General Public License). Anyone may freely acquire and modify the source code, and any published changes or additions to Reason will be made available under the same terms.
