JPNDE is a framework that supports the development of distributed and cooperative systems. It allows the simulation of models and the runtime of systems developed through extensions of the same models according to defined rules. The main features of framework are:
• a distributed runtime environment based on JADE for execution and/or simulation of models defined using Petri Nets (PNs);
• the trasparent distribution of computational tasks on the nodes of the network;
• a set of model extensions, based on API and scriptlets, that allows to implement complex computational activities and support of high-level PNs (Coloured Petri Nets);
• interaction between different models (or between nodes on the same model) through the exchange of tokens containing complex data types.
The models are provided as input to the framework using the Petri Net Markup Language (PNML).
