To aid the process of finding optimal combinations of diagnostic cutoffs we introduce a new graphically based, data mining Matlab software tool, softROC. Using an Excel file, it populates a graphical interface that allows users to establish and combine search ranges of diagnostic cutoffs. The candidate values are evaluated against the supplied ground truth diagnosis-using test and quality receiver operating characteristics (ROCs). The user can simply and quickly choose diagnosis criteria based ROC performance from the interactive plots or analyze the results offline using a save to text functionality.
