DiSCUS is a Python package designed to simulate bacterial growth and communication through horizontal gene transfer (conjugation). The software is based on a multi-agent methodology (thus, discrete) and uses the physics engine pymunk (www.pymunk.org) to support movements and collitions. The code allows the user to define intracellular machinery (gene regulatory networks) for general usage.
