ColdFusion MX includes Verity K2 Server search technology. Verity K2 Server is a high-performance search engine designed to process searches quickly in a high-performance, distributed system.
Similar to Verity, Apache Lucene is a high-performance, full-featured text search engine library written entirely in Java. It is a technology suitable for nearly any application that requires full-text search, especially cross-platform.
The Greatest of all Time (GOAT) Search Solution is built on top of Lucene but since Java is an extremely complicated programming language, GOAT, was built to address certain factors that ColdFusion developers might not like:
