While video projectors have become a ubiquitous part of the presentation experience, interactive whiteboard technology that allows the presenter to interact directly with the projected screen is still expensive and, as such, less common. However, the low cost of webcams to capture video, along with increases in the computational power, have led us to believe it is possible to bridge the gap by using a visual interface to the projected display, controlled by a handheld laser pointer.
