PageRank is the most successful ranking system in commercial sense. However, the definition of PageRank is actually empirical. Besides, it is beyond PageRank’s ability to take advantage of other partial information besides the citation relationship. A practical ranking system needs to use the weighted score of PageRank and other information. We had constructed a general framework for ranking system of which PageRank is just a special case. The framework also makes it possible to incorporate other information directly. paperrank is a project to apply this method in ranking papers and researchers.
