“Are We There Yet?” is an interactive audio installation to be installed in the Yud of the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco in the spring of 2010. The exhibit will feature an array of speakers around the perimeter which will target sound clips to people as they move through the space. People’s motion is monitored by a video camera, which tracks people’s movements, selects audio cues to play, and controls the speaker array.
The installation, designed by Ken Goldberg and Gil Gershoni “explores contemporary Jewish identity” through the theme of questioning. “The installation will evoke an early stage in Jewish history when the open desert created opportunity for revelation.”
The software is developed in C++ and leverages Boost and OpenCV libraries to enable real-time tracking and decision-making.
